At BAI Communications, sustainability is not just a priority, it’s a responsibility we embrace with purpose and pride. As we present our FY25 sustainability report, we continue to demonstrate that sustainability remains at the heart of everything we do.
As experts in the design, build and operation of shared communications infrastructure, we are focused on driving greater efficiency in both construction and operations, reducing costs, and enhancing resilience in the face of increasing climate risks such as fires, cyclones and flooding. Our achievements this year include reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions to just 35.5% of our 2010 peak, driven by grid decarbonisation, the cessation of analogue broadcasting, and our own targeted investments in renewable energy and efficiency. We have also deployed 1.4 MW of solar generation capacity across our network.
Since rejoining the United Nations Global Compact in November 2023 as a standalone Australian entity, we have made significant strides in our sustainability journey. This year, we achieved a score of 97/100 from GRESB, placing first among participants in our peer categories within this self-reported benchmarking framework, and reaffirmed our commitment to submitting near-term emissions reduction targets to the Science Based Targets Initiative.
We’re also deeply committed to making a positive impact, championing social responsibility through partnerships like our ongoing collaboration with Bangarra Dance Theatre and support for First Nations broadcasters, striving for nature-positive outcomes as custodians of some of Australia’s most environmentally significant locations, and upholding the highest standards of integrity in everything we do, for our customers, our people and the communities we serve.
While we’re proud of the progress outlined in this report, we see it as just the beginning. We remain dedicated to achieving the ambitious targets we’ve set, establishing new goals in the years ahead, and transparently sharing our journey with stakeholders through regular updates.
Together, we’re building a more sustainable and connected future.
