CIO Hall of Fame inductee to lead technology strategy and transformation as BAI accelerates its digital future
Leading communications infrastructure provider BAI Communications (BAI) today announced the appointment of Dr Angela Coble OAM to the newly created role of Chief Information & Transformation Officer, effective 14 September 2026. Angela joins BAI from outside the organisation and will sit on the BAI Executive Leadership Team, reporting to Chief Executive Officer, Peter Lambourne.
“Angela’s appointment reflects the calibre of leadership we want driving BAI into its next phase. She has spent her career building trust across governments, regulators, and boards while delivering large-scale technology change, and that combination of judgement and delivery capability is exactly what this role demands. Digital capability, data, and critical infrastructure resilience are only becoming more central to what we do, and Angela’s background positions her to lead on all three. Beyond the technology remit, she brings a genuine commitment to developing talent and leadership within organisations, values that align closely with how we want BAI to grow,” said Mr Lambourne.
Dr Coble brings more than two decades of senior technology leadership experience across the government, not-for-profit, and corporate sectors to BAI. She joins from the Australian Energy Market Operator and previously held leadership roles at Accenture, including Managing Director, Strategy & Consulting and Chief Technology Officer. Throughout her career she has led distributed teams of more than 350 people and managed technology budgets exceeding $700 million, delivering programs of national significance in energy, healthcare, finance, resources, and government.
Angela was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2023 and named among the AFR’s Top 5 Women in Leadership (Technology), recognising her influence on the technology sector and contribution to national digital capability. She was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to technology and gender equity, and her doctoral research examined success in technology leadership and how to accelerate the participation of women in senior leadership roles, work she continues to champion.
