BAI Communications Australia today announced Nick Gurney as its new Director of Telecommunications, joining BAI’s Australian leadership team and reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Peter Lambourne.
“I am pleased to welcome Nick to the Australian business. His strong background supporting customers with the deployment of smart applications and services makes him an important asset to our team as we strengthen our market engagement and business development capability. He will be instrumental in showcasing BAI’s expertise and innovation as we facilitate and advance the densification and extension of networks working across multiple technologies and use cases to ensure communities across Australia have ubiquitous coverage,” said Mr Lambourne.
Mr Gurney brings decades of global business and telecommunications experience to the role. Before joining BAI, he was based in Luxembourg as Vice President at Syniverse, a software and services company. In that role, Nick was responsible for Syniverse’s operations across Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. He was also a board member of Syniverse Technologies.
Prior to Syniverse, Nick undertook various senior roles at IBM where he played an integral role in strategic projects and key accounts. During his nineteen-year tenure, Nick was Managing Director for IBM’s Telstra account, covering all aspects of relationship management and led all activities across IBM’s communications sector and consulting services for telecommunications, media, energy and utilities throughout Asia Pacific.
Prior to that, he led the strategy practice for telecommunications clients including Telstra, Optus and Telecom NZ at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).
On his appointment, Nick commented: “BAI Communications has an extremely well-deserved reputation for successfully working in close collaboration with customers across telecommunications, government, broadcasting, transit, enterprise and venues to understand their challenges and realise their vision. I’m delighted to join the BAI team and look forward to working in continued partnership with our clients, to advance their services, accelerate their networks and amplify their reach in the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible.”
